JAARS, a division of Wycliffe Bible Translators, is developing computer code to enable the Bible to be translated into the sign languages of the world. Perhaps one day soon Deaf people will be able to see (read) the Bible in their own sign language on video on the Internet or on DVD.

My prayer is that during the video if the person watching doesn't know the meaning of a sign, clicking on it will link to a definition in sign language and in the written language of a country. Visual aids such as pictures, maps, charts, family lines and computer animations of action verbs, events or battles would be helpful, too. Please support JAARS.

Pray for the provision of funding, personnel, creative insight and wisdom, as a team of computer software specialists develop tools to help record sign languages into Bible translations. Please pray for the development of software to support the specialized needs of linguistic and translation work in deaf sign languages.

Perhaps your photo, art work or computer animated version of something or some event in the Bible will make the meaning clear to a person who is new to learning from the Bible. Trying to present the Bible words, verses, concepts and stories in a visual way will enhance your own understanding of the Word of God. Put those visual representations with the sign languages of the world and we will have a good resource for many people to use.

We are in the process of creating captioned pictures for the Bible, and need any and all art that could be donated for this website.

This website is dedicated to the hearing impaired persons of the world, and our hope is that it will be useful in assisting people to learn signing, as well as the Bible and language, We feel that there is a great need for this, and would appreciate any links that may be useful in promoting signing aids.
